The Alaska Highway begins!

\
Day 5's message read: "You have both crossed over the 1/2 way point. Great job. Today you will hit 2 big milestones: 1. You will enter British Columbia and 2. You will finally reach the
Alaska highway."
A fine message, but it seemed a bit like we had been driving a long way already and, well, we've just passed halfway!!?? Sigh...

We put in our audio book Little Bee, patted the old Chevy to remind her what a super car she was, prayed for the day, and shifted the car in D. We were greatly encouraged when the occasional car we saw had one of these:

The Peace Bridge, a bit blurry due to the speed of the moving vehicle, that crosses the Peace River. Remember Car Rule #2? This is why we still have a camera.

And the road stretched on and on...
We had no idea of the exciting things ahead.

Then, after so many miles of wilderness, we suddenly drove into Dawson City--an oasis in the desert. This entrance sign read: "Where the adventure begins!" and our hearts beat a little faster. We were all about adventure!
